Roppongi Hills with Naoki and his Mom!

Thursday, July 11, 2013

After a long day of sightseeing in Tokyo, we were excited to meet up with our friend Naoki and his mother for a view from the Sky Deck on top of Mori Tower and dinner in Roppongi Hills. Before we checked out the Sky Deck, we did a quick tour of the Love Exhibition on display at the Mori Tower Museum.

We snuck this photo in the tentacle love room
High up on the 52nd Floor of the Mori Building, we had a 360 degree panorama view of Tokyo. It was breathtaking to be so high above the completely lit-up city.

Here is a panoramic view of the city
Do not be fooled we are still in Japan; to the left is Tokyo Tower, which was inspired by the Eiffel Tower.

Naoki and his mother took us to a really hip and yummy kyo-ryori restaurant. Every dish from the multi-course meal was perfectly prepared and visually stunning. We enjoyed spending time with Naoki and his mother, who is learning to speak english and loves to watch Friends.  Since she is already on Season 9 of 10 seasons, we were trying to think of another good American sitcom for her to start.  Any good ideas?

Here we are enjoying our first course served in a bento box.
From top left: Sashimi fatty tuna and other fish; "sticky potato shot," egg squares, seaweed salad, and other items I cannot recall but were tasty; Japanese gefilte fish soup (I named it that); fish tempura; and beef.
