We start out our day of seeing Tokyo's varied and awesome neighborhoods in Shibuya. The center meeting place, for the locals, is the statue of Hachiko. Hachiko was a dog who went with his master every day to the train station, and met him when he got back from work. One day the master died, but Hachiko remained loyal and waited at the Shibuya station every day until he Hachiko died. He became so famous they made a statue for him. I would like to think our dogs would do that for. . . . . . no, that wouldn't happen.
The Shibuya Scramble Crossing, as seen from the Starbucks window, was everything we hoped it would be. Masses of people, huge TV billboard signs with music blaring from them, and a creepy guy taking pictures of Japanese women (bottom right).
Akihibara, or Electric town, is a neighborhood in Tokyo known for its electronics for sale, videogames, and manga. We went to the 6 story arcade in the picture. Zach and I played some fighting games (in which Zach won). The best game, however, was free. It involved a special target in the men's urinal that would blow air on an animated woman. The harder you urinate, the harder the wind blows, and the more "flowy" her clothes become. Mind Blowing.
I don't think I need to explain this.
